Exceptional mid 20th- century Italian studio reproduction of Tiziano Vecellio’s (Titan) Renaissance masterpiece, The Penitent Magdalene‍ ‍(circa 1555-1565) This evocative composition beautifully captures the soft-focus, dramatic emotional depth of the original, the Mary Magdalene illuminated by the divine light in a moment of elegant repentance.

This piece is expertly prepared in a traditional European workshop style, the piece is rendered in texture oils on a heavy, course-weave natural canvas substrate. The reverse showcases authentic mid-century construction, complete with mitered wooden stretcher bars and corner expansion wedges, historic oxidation (foxing) on the canvas reverse. The painting is magnificently housed in its original, heavy-profile gallery frame. The frame features deep, ornate scrollwork and layered gesso underpinnings with a beautifully patinated hand-applied gilt finish.
